Earth Weave Natural Carpet
Broadloom and area rugs made from undyed, untreated wool. The wool is held in place by a hemp/cotton “primary”, a natural rubber adhesive, and a secondary backing made of natural jute. The result is a completely nontoxic, renewable and biodegradable carpet with no added chemicals. Carpets are tufted, textured loop construction. Yarns of various natural colors give interesting varigated textures in greys and browns. Carpet pad is wool needled into a cotton backing “We urge our customers to recycle it to the garden where it will safely biodegrade while serving as an effective weed barrier and mulch.
Organic Weave
“The World’s Only Certified Organic Rug Company.” Artisan-made wall-to-wall ”broadloom” and area rugs made from certified organic cotton, silk and wool with chemical-free plant-based dyes in a certified organic facility. Also children’s rugs and custom designs. “No odor/offgassing…Organic Weave aims for transparency in everything that we do.” Understands MCS needs.
Hook and Loom
Beautiful wool rugs containing no chemicals, latex or dyes. “Many wool rugs are made with synthetic latex or other backing that can off-gas, releasing hazardous fumes in your home. Others use glues or other bonding agents to hold their rugs together. We were not willing to compromise on either of these fronts. In the end, we decided to hand-weave all of our wool rugs, and hand-bind the edges. This requires more effort, but it raises the quality of the rugs, and fulfills our “no chemicals” and “no latex” rules.”
There is also a line of recycled Eco Cotton rugs that are very environmentally friendly but not completely natural. They don’t add any dyes or chemicals to the recycled yarn but the original fibers may contain dyes, chemicals, and synthetic fibers. There is no latex backing. These Eco Cotton rugs probably have much lower emissions than traditional rugs but they are not entirely natural.
