Proposition 65 Warning on Readers Eyeglasses

Over the years I have purchased a lot of reading glasses and have done some research on the plastics used for frames. However, I have never seen a warning label on eyeglasses of any kind until Labor Day weekend when I tried to order a pair of glasses online from readers.com. I got all the way to checkout and was just about to click on the “buy” button when the warning above came up.

Haynes Fresh IQ

I've noticed that Hanes underwear and socks all say FreshIQ on the packaging. It turns out that this a chemical applied to the fabric. I'm not sure what the chemical is, or if it's even safe?

Non-Toxic Watch Strap

I've just discovered your page. It is WONDERFUL. My wife and I are attempting to slowly but surely reduce our toxic levels at home (particularly plastics!) for ourselves and our children, and your site is going to help us a lot for sure! My latest mission is watch straps! I've come to realise that it is not so easy to find something toxin free!

Natural Clothing “Exclusive of Decorations” and the Toxicity of Dyes

I am trying to find cheaper, post-baby, all natural clothing to wear, some to exercise in. It's not easy to find all cotton work-out clothing, but Champion does make cotton clothing that is pretty cheap (esp. on sale). However, it is 100% cotton "exclusive of decoration." I assume this "decoration" to be the small "C" embroidery on the clothing items. Is this still okay to wear? How do you know if dyes used in cotton clothing are safe?

Are There Any Nontoxic Shoes?

Has anyone noticed that so many shoes today smell really toxic? For example, Merrell makes really comfy shoes but they smell so toxic and awful my eyes start to sting. Other shoes that are made of leather don't smell good when you first get them but one senses they will outgas and are not as toxic. It's hard to find comfortable shoes and sandals that are made of high quality healthy leathers and glues. Does anyone agree?

Removing Perfume Smell from Clothing

I bought some jeans at the Goodwill last week and when I got home and smelled them in my clean home environment, I could smell perfume (there were too many odors in the store for me to detect it there). I have washed them numerous times, including in baking soda, and put them in the dryer, and I can't get the perfume smell out. I even tried washing them with Pet Odor Eliminator to see if that would do anything.

Plastic Seam Reinforcement on Clothing

I have noticed that many clothes I buy these days have a plastic material that is used to reinforce the sewing on the seams. It particularly seems to be used on the inside shoulder seams of garments. Do you know if this is indeed plastic, or perhaps it is latex or some other material?

Polyurethane Foam in Bra Padding

I have recently found out that some bra companies are using polyurethane foam in the padding. I was shocked to see it on the label. The specific brand is Hanes and Barely There. I am wondering about the use of it in bras. How can this be safe? Are there safe alternatives? Some companies don't list what is in the padding.

Are Crocs Shoes Safe?

Are Crocs Shoes Safe?

My kids love these plastic shoes and even Wholefoods is selling them. But the more I think about Crocs the more concerned I get. My daughter wore them a lot last summer and her skin on the soles of her feet starting peeling off. Is there any hazardous connection with wearing crocks, or cheaper similar products?
